Founded in February 2012 and with a readership in the thousands, ACYA AustraliaBites is an English-Chinese bilingual monthly newsletter targeted at Chinese (and other) international students in Australia that provides a snapshot of recent Australian current affairs, pop culture, and idiomatic language. It aims to provide Chinese interested in Australia and/or learning English with an enjoyable and useful way to improve their knowledge of and engage with Australian society.

The 2013 edition is co-published by the Australia-China Youth Association (ACYA) and the University of Sydney China Studies Centre (CSC), and for the first time has been rendered completely bilingual by the ACYA Translation Sub-Committee and peer-reviewed by academic staff of the CSC.

The Journal provides a high-quality and high-visibility platform for students and young professionals to publish academic essays, opinion articles and creative work pertaining to some aspect of Australia and China. It is a unique publication that plays an important role in giving a voice to Australian and Chinese students and young professionals in the Australia-China academic discourse, covering a wide variety of topics and writing styles.

DEADLINE – Applications for the Australia-China Youth Dialogue

The Australia-China Youth Dialogue (ACYD) is a youth-driven bilateral conference held over four days. It aims to promote sophisticated cross-cultural understanding between emerging Australian and Chinese leaders.

Applicants must be Australian or Chinese citizens (this includes residents of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau) and must be between 20 to 35 years old as of 21 November 2014.

To be eligible, applicants must be available to participate from 12pm on Friday 21st November to 3pm on Monday 24th November.

Send a statement of interest, resume (no longer than two pages and including date of birth) as well as a letter of recommendation (from an endorser) to acyd2014@acyd.org.au.

Applications close on 11:59pm AEST, 31 July 2014 for Australian applicants, and 11:59 BST, 31 July 2014 for Chinese applicants.

ACYA Bilateral Youth Leaders Workshop Sydney

ACYA’s flagship Bilateral Youth Leadership Workshop is a national conference that will be held in Sydney from the 15th-18th of August 2014.

The conference will comprise of ACYA delegates from across Australia. Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in workshops led by the National Executive and key partner organisations. The delegation’s professional skills and capabilities will be refined and built upon as emerging leaders within ACYA.

The ACYA National Executive encourages all Australian Chapter Presidents to attend. Other delegates from within the Chapter Executive and potential emerging leaders that do not hold executive positions will also be invited to attend.
