Founded in February 2012 and with a readership in the thousands, ACYA AustraliaBites is an English-Chinese bilingual monthly newsletter targeted at Chinese (and other) international students in Australia that provides a snapshot of recent Australian current affairs, pop culture, and idiomatic language. It aims to provide Chinese interested in Australia and/or learning English with an enjoyable and useful way to improve their knowledge of and engage with Australian society.

ACYA Journal of Australia-China Affairs 2013

The 2013 edition is co-published by the Australia-China Youth Association (ACYA) and the University of Sydney China Studies Centre (CSC), and for the first time has been rendered completely bilingual by the ACYA Translation Sub-Committee and peer-reviewed by academic staff of the CSC.

The Journal provides a high-quality and high-visibility platform for students and young professionals to publish academic essays, opinion articles and creative work pertaining to some aspect of Australia and China. It is a unique publication that plays an important role in giving a voice to Australian and Chinese students and young professionals in the Australia-China academic discourse, covering a wide variety of topics and writing styles.

DEADLINE – ACYA-MTC Scholarship

The ACYA-MTC Scholarship is a one-semester tuition fee waiver for study at the National Taiwan Normal University’s Mandarin Training Centre.

The scholarship will be awarded to serious students of excellence to promote the study of Mandarin Chinese. Successful applicants should also demonstrate an interest in Aus-Sino relations.

To apply, please send the application form, a copy of your resume and a cover letter that outlines how you meet the above criteria and how the program will benefit you to education@acya.org.au before October 1. If you are part of an ACYA chapter, please state the chapter you are a member of.

To celebrate the opening of our new chapter in WA at Murdoch University, ACYA is having a joint Yumcha and karaoke NIGHT!

The evening will start with Yumcha in Northbridge, followed by attempts at Karaoke and hopefully the loss of voice the next day.

Expect to feast like kings at $25 for Members and $30 for Non Members. Some alcohol will be provided but please feel free to B.Y.O.!

Karaoke will be split between the people that want to go out after and belt out their favourite hits.

DEADLINE – Murdoch University School of Law: Graduate Certificate in Chinese Law

Murdoch University, in partnership with East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, is offering a Graduate Certificate course in Chinese Law.

Key points:
Australian citizens may apply to defer the tuition fees through the FEE-HELP scheme.

Undergraduate students may also be eligible under the OS-HELP loan scheme for financial assistance since they are undertaking some of their course of study overseas.

However to be eligible, students must have a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average, enrol in a minimum of three units in the program and enrol in one unit in Semester 1 on their return.

Students must have completed a minimum of 24 credit points of law to apply for OSHELP.

The Graduate Certificate in Chinese Law attracts Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.

Australia-China Youth Dialogue

The Australia-China Youth Dialogue (ACYD) is a youth-driven bilateral conference held over four days. It aims to promote sophisticated cross-cultural understanding between emerging Australian and Chinese leaders.
