Elaine Shi
ACYA UniMelb President
Elaine Shi is the President of the Australia-China Youth Association's University of Melbourne chapter. Her journey with ACYA began as a Careers Officer, before being elected to Secretary, then President. She leads the primary platform for Australia-China youth engagement at the University of Melbourne, delivering large-scale, high-quality events that foster professional development and cultural connection between domestic and international students.
She is a final-year Bachelor of Arts student majoring in Linguistics and Media Communications, with an academic path spanning law, public relations, marketing, and design. Drawing on this interdisciplinary background and her own bicultural upbringing, she is committed to building a more inclusive community within the University of Melbourne student body.
Born in Shanghai, Elaine carries a personal connection to the Australia-China relationship that runs through her work, having completed three internships in Shanghai, including at Yingke Law Firm. Looking ahead, she hopes to grow the chapter's impact as a lasting bridge between Australian and Chinese communities at the University of Melbourne and beyond.
