Together with Leizhou College Students Volunteer Association (LZCVA), ACYA is pleased to open applications for 2016 Leizhou Volunteering Trip, taking place on the 21st -27th of July, 2016. Since 2013, our volunteers have taken a week in July to teach English to Leizhou high school students – allowing a glimpse into regional China, while contributing to the local community and promoting Australian culture. It is a great opportunity to interact with Chinese learners of English, both at a high school and university level and through homestay, experience life as a local. If you have a passion for volunteering and the Aus-China relationship, you can apply with the following:
1. An application form http://goo.gl/forms/h7x46xpPoIuEKVpK2
2. A signed legal waiver
3. A $100 dollar deposit – see details in our application form
Applications close 15th of June 2016 at 5PM (AEST). You will be contacted following the closing date.
Hope to see you in Leizhou!
“ While our trip was short, it was a great experience for both us and the Chinese university and school students and we forged relationships and contacts that will last well beyond our departure. It became clear as we were leaving the school with each class screaming, ‘I love you’, asking us to come back, that our presence at the camp had made an impact. Further, despite studying English, the university students running the camp had never really interacted with foreigners and hearing of their newly found motivation to improve their English to work and travel in Australia was heartening. It’s this level of engagement that lays the foundation of the relationships between our two countries and a promising future for both Australia and China. I cannot recommend this trip enough and hope it carries on into the future and continues to bring young Australians to the ‘real China’, beyond the reach of most foreigners.”
