And now She is looking forward to extending her leadership, communication, management and coordinating skills to ACYA to develop and foster bi-lateral relations and further ACYA’s impact across a variety of social sectors.

Chengdu

President: Jesse Glass

Following his graduation from the University of Melbourne, Jesse came to Chengdu to study Mandarin in mid-2014. Next semester he will begin a Victorian Government Hamer Scholarship for language study at Sichuan University. With experience in the Sports Industry in Melbourne, Jesse has helped coordinate sports diplomacy programs in conjunction with the Consulate General of Chengdu, the Australian Chamber of Commerce Southwest China and ACYA. He is excited by the prospect of continuing the work of Duncan McIntire in building people to people connections in Southwest China.

Guangzhou

President: Adelaide Michael

Adelaide is in her third year of a dual degree in International Business and Economics. Currently, she is an exchange student at Sun Yat-sen in Guangzhou and loving her time there. Adelaide joined ACYA in Australia in 2016, later becoming secretary of the Griffith University Chapter. In Guangzhou, Adelaide is motivated to create an environment that encourages global connections and celebrates the two cultures.

Hong Kong

President: Sunny van den Berg

Sunny is a fourth year Arts/Laws (Hons.) student from the University of Queensland in Brisbane. She is currently studying on exchange at the University of Hong Kong supported by Westpac. She holds experience in government, NGO, academic, and private sectors and is passionate about tech and privacy law, and hopes to continue to work in this space post-graduation. She rates vegemite, dim sum, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Nanjing

President: Liam Flaherty

Liam Flaherty is a commerce graduate from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) with work experience across both public & private sectors in Australia. Liam has studied Chinese since primary school and has completed multiple stints studying in China, including being part of the Hamer scholarship program. Now working hard to establish himself in the F&B trade space launching a start-up FR Wine Group, working as a brand ambassador for 31jiu and opening a wine bar in Nanjing. Liam hopes through ACYA he can encourage and support other young aspiring Australians and Chinese in their endeavours.

Shanghai

President: Ellie Wyatt

Ellie Wyatt is based in Shanghai completing her New Colombo Scholar Program at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. A sixth year Monash University Arts/Law and Diploma of Language: Mandarin student, Ellie is interested in a pursuing a career in the law and politics. A serial intern, Ellie has worked in the commercial arbitration, law and NGO sectors.

Taipei

President: Cameron Hee

Cameron Hee is currently studying at the National Taiwan University through the new Colombo Plan Scholarship program. Originally from the University of Western Australia where he is a second-year Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) student with a double major in Economics and Finance whilst concurrently studying a diploma in Modern Languages: Mandarin. Having moved city every three years, a main goal of his is to become proficient in Mandarin.

Wuhan

President: Timothy Easterbrook

Timothy Easterbrook is based in Wuhan completing his exchange at Wuhan University. A fourth-year University of Wollongong Creative Arts(music)/Commerce and a Diploma of Language: Mandarin. Timothy joined ACYA so that he can unite people together to encourage stronger bonds for Australia and China’s future relations. Timothy is interested in pursuing a career in finance and accounting.
